Custom woodwork
and metalwork
The stairs, floors, cabinets, doors, and railings you touch every day, built in our shop for your house rather than ordered from a catalogue.

What it covers
What custom woodwork and metalwork covers
Hardwood flooring and finish carpentry came first, and the whole houses came later. It is why the stairs, the cabinets, and the trim in a Ciddio house are not the part that gets rushed at the end, and why this work stands on its own if it is all you need.
Everything here is made for one house. On a full build the shop work happens while the house is closing in, so your cabinets, doors, stairs, and railings are ready when the rooms are and nothing waits on a supplier.
We work from your drawings, or from your designer's, and we will tell you where a detail will not survive contact with the opening it has to fit before anything is cut.

What is included
Stairs, cabinets, doors, floors, and railings
Finished millwork, wide1920 x 1080
Floors laid and finished, and existing floors repaired or extended so the new work does not announce itself.
Brass and metal inlay set into hardwood, including medallions and borders cut for the room they sit in.
Kitchens, vanities, wine rooms, and the awkward wall nobody sells a stock cabinet for.
Treads, risers, nosings, and railings, built to the run the house actually has rather than the one on the drawing.
Interior and entry doors, casing, and trim, hung and fitted so they still close properly in five years.
Blackened steel railings, brackets, and the steel that pairs with the wood, fabricated for the job rather than ordered in.
Installed by the same company that built it, then walked with you, with anything you want changed on a list before we leave.
The projects you can look at are walnut, white oak, blackened steel, and brass. If you have another material in mind, raise it early, because it changes the drawing as much as it changes the price.

FAQ
Common questions about woodwork
Can you do this in a house you did not build?
Yes. A staircase, a kitchen, a floor, or a run of built-ins in a house that is already finished is normal work for us. We will look at what is there and tell you honestly what it takes.
Do we need a designer, or can you draw it?
We can draw it with you from measurements taken on site, and we build to your architect's or designer's details if you already have them. Nothing gets cut until you have seen it drawn and agreed the price.
Can you match trim or flooring in an older house?
Often, yes. Matching an old profile means milling to it rather than finding it on a shelf, which is the kind of work the shop exists for. Send a photo and a measurement and we will tell you what is possible.
Do you install it, or do we hire someone else?
We install it. The pieces are built and fitted by the same company, so there is nobody to blame at the seam between the two, and the measurements that went into the shop are the ones being fitted on site.
Does this have to be part of a bigger project?
No. It runs inside a remodel or a new build, and it runs on its own. If you only want the stair replaced, that is a job.
How does this work alongside the rest of a build?
The shop work happens while the house is being closed in, so nothing is being assembled in a finished room and nothing waits on a supplier. The stage by stage version of that is on our process page.
